Blue Bird Group,
the parent company of taxi operator Blue Bird, said Thursday that there were no
indications of rape related to a sexual harassment report filed by a local
television actress, identified only as JM, 22.
Blue Bird Group
spokesman Teguh Wijayanto said in a media statement that the East Jakarta Police were still investigating the case and had not
yet found any evidence to support the alleged harassment by a taxi driver,
identified as RM.
“The Blue Bird
Group is awaiting further results of the police investigation,” Teguh
said in the statement.
“We will take
stern action against the driver if the allegation is true because we are keen
to prevent such incidents from taking place.”
Teguh added that
despite the fact the allegation had not yet been proven, the driver had been
suspended.
He emphasized
that the transportation service provider was aiming to improve its control and
monitoring system to prevent similar cases from occurring.
“The development
of integrity and a service culture will be increased so that drivers can
provide the best services and can ensure the safety of passengers,” he said.
The statement
also quoted Adj. Comr. Endang, who said there were several peculiar things
about the case, referring to the fact that JM did not initially report that she
had been hypnotized and that she could recount everything that took place in a
sequential manner. (nvn)
