Good morning Bali!

W

elcome to your inaugural edition of Bali Daily.

Today’s launch represents the latest innovation of The Jakarta Post’s determined and evolving commitment to present an informative, quality publication that serves as both a benchmark of journalism for residents of this blessed island, and a guide for visitors to one of the world’s most enchanting holiday destinations.

The birth of Bali Daily parallels that of The Jakarta Post itself. Three decades ago it was felt that an emerging country such as Indonesia required the presence of a quality daily representative of the nation’s growing stature. Hence, The Jakarta Post was born to provide qualitative insight in English on the dynamics of the world’s largest archipelago.

As an island often more famous than Indonesia itself, we too felt a responsibility to ensure that Balinese views are well represented to the world.

Make no mistake! This is not a Jakarta-based newspaper printed in Bali. The Bali Daily team works under the aegis of those with vested emotional and cultural interest in Bali. A team of individuals with an editorial commitment to quality journalism aspiring to uphold Bali’s resplendent uniqueness as a member of a global community of nations.

Within these pages we endeavor to serve our readers with the talking points of the day: A ledger of modern Bali and an agora for public scrutiny shaping the island’s future founded on a hallowed past. At the same time, the publication also functions as a citation for commercial opportunities and reference for visitors seeking the island’s best.

At the outset, Bali Daily will be a four-page accompaniment to the national edition of The Jakarta Post. It is our intent that with your tangible support, Bali Daily will expand further as an independent entity in content and format over the coming months.

Join us, help us, be with us daily, as we give back some of the pride and bliss that Bali has furnished us down the years.
