Yogyakarta-based group, the Jogja Hip-hop Foundation, will hold a concert in Jakarta this month.

Music Director Djaduk Ferianto said that the "NewYorkarto: Orang Jawa Ngerap di New York" (NewYorkarto: Javanese people sing rap in New York) concert in Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM), Central Jakarta, will combine elements of traditional music such as gamelan and Sundanese angklung with their signature Javanese rap.

"We had an idea of visualizing [the foundation's songs]. There will also be a string orchestra," he said on Thursday.

Traditional and modern dances and wayang shadow puppets will also be performed.

NewYokarto will be held on April 27 and 28 at Graha Bhakti Budaya hall in TIM. Ticket prices start at Rp 100,000 (US$10.90).
