Issue: I will run for president if the people want: Mega

Former president Megawati Sukarnoputri confirmed on Sunday “that she would consider running for top office again in 2014 if people wanted her to lead the country again.

The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) chairwoman was quoted by tribunnews.com as saying that she was “optimistic” about winning people’s hearts in the next presidential election.

“Despite the fact that I lost the last two [presidential elections], I will consider myself for a run again if there are a lot of requests from the people for me [to do so],” she said at Buleleng regency in Bali on Sunday.

“We still receive much support whenever we visit our party’s local branches,” she added.
