Late energy and mineral resources deputy minister Widjajono Partowidagdo’s wife insisted on Saturday that her husband had never complained about his health prior to his unexpected death earlier in the day.

Nina Septi Triarwati said that her late husband always underwent health tests before any climbing activities.

“Actually, my husband had no record of severe illness. Besides, mountain climbing had always been one of his hobbies,” Nina said as quoted by Antara.

Widjajono died from a suspected heart attack while climbing the 2,815-meter-high Mount Tambora in West Nusa Tenggara on Saturday afternoon when he reportedly fell unconscious.

According to ministry public relations staff, Widjajono’s remains will be taken to Denpasar, Bali, for an autopsy.

A wake will be held on Jl. Ciragil II No. 28, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta. (asa/mtq)
