Democratic Party lawmaker Angelina Sondakh will today be questioned by Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigators for the first time as a graft suspect.
Angelina, a former beauty queen, was in early February named a suspect a case surrounding the construction of the SEA Games athletes’ village in South Sumatra.
She allegedly played a role in rigging the tender for the project.
“She is scheduled to show up before investigators on Friday,” KPK spokesman Johan Budi said on Thursday evening.
He refused to comment whether the anti-graft body would detain Angelina after the interrogation.
Angelina’s father, Lucky Sondakh, was quoted by tribunnews.com as saying that he was prepared “for the worse” following the allegations brought against her.
“I have always reminded her about the risk of becoming a politician. We pray for her during times like these,” he said.
Apart from the SEA Games athletes’ village case, the KPK also suspects Angelina received a bribe related to the budget allocation for the Education and Culture Ministry. (asa/mtq)
