Golkar to recruit actresses, singers

A Golkar party official has unveiled the party’s plan to recruit well-known actresses and singers in a bid to gather votes at the upcoming general elections.

“Artists being targeted are Desy Ratnasari, former beauty queen Artika Sari Devi and singers Katon Bagaskara and Ari Lasso,” deputy secretary-general Nurul Arifin said on Tuesday, as quoted by tribunnews.com.

Nurul said that the party would nominate the artists as legislative candidates in the 2014 election. However, she said that the road to Golkar Party lawmaker hopeful would not be easy for nominated artists.

“We will apply strict requirements that must be met by the artist before discussing their candidacies as lawmakers,” she said. (asa/dic)
