AJI supports KPK’s probe of journo in graft scandal
The Alliance of Independent Journalists (AJI) say it supports the Corruption Eradication Commission’s (KPK) probe into the alleged involvement of a journalist in the scandal surrounding the construction of the Southeast Asian Games athletes’ village.
“AJI supports the KPK’s efforts to resolve the case, including investigations into whether or not journalists were involved in the case,” AJI advocacy division head Eko Maryadi said on Monday.
The KPK quizzed Jeffrey Manuel Rawis, a journalist with Antara news agency, as a witness in its ongoing investigation of Democratic Party politician Angelina Sondakh on Monday.
Jeffrey allegedly helped former Democratic Party treasurer Muhammad Nazaruddin to deliver bribes to Angelina, who has been named a suspect in the case.
"A journalist implicated in the graft case shows that corruption has gone to a deeper, more personal level," Eko said. (iwa)
