Yusril Ihza Mahendra, a lawyer for former health minister Siti Fadillah Supari, visited the National Police Headquarter on Wednesday to clarify his client’s “dubious” status as a suspect in a graft case.
“We still need to clarify her status because, based on our recent information, she has been named as a suspect and her dossier has also been submitted to the Attorney General’s Office,” the former state secretary told reporters on Wednesday.
“However, up until now she has never been questioned in her capacity as a suspect.”
Previously, National Police chief detective Comr. Gen Sutarman said that Siti allegedly abused her power during her tenure as minister in 2004-2009. Before that statement, Siti had voluntarily visited the police headquarter to ask about her status.
Siti’s name first appeared earlier last month, based on the testimony from another suspect who was a former subordinate in the ministry, during a hearing at the Corruption Court.
