Letter: Instilling Pancasila

The letter “It is high time to instill Pancasila” (The Jakarta Post, May 11) is on the dot because otherwise Indonesia will go the way of Iraq (a break-up caused by sectarian ideologies).
Why the two ministers are so adamant against solving the problem Pancasila-wise is not difficult to figure out but dangerous to finger-point at: retribution.
So let me, a foreigner, give you a hint: Those cushy jobs (names don’t matter) will be protected by the sharia-wise imams who smile looking at Aceh where the rule of Islam is absolute.
In ancient times, before monotheism was practiced in the Middle East, many gods were worshipped “under different names” but with the “same functions” and people lived peacefully Pancasila-wise.
