Vocational school students of SMKN 3 Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara, have managed to assemble 2,000 laptops for fellow students in schools throughout the region since 2009.
The students have worked with various Indonesian computer companies that have provided spare parts for the laptops that the students would then put together.
Aside from laptops, the students have been asked to produce liquid crystal display (LCD) monitors.
“There have been 290 LCD units that have been produced between 2010 and 2011. The students will assemble an estimated 400 LCD units in 2012, aside from a predicted 600 laptop units,” SMKN 3 Mataram’s principal, Umar, said on Monday, as quoted by kompas.com.
No complaints have been made so far regarding any of the student-made products, Umar said. (png)
