Letter: Detention without a trial

Detention without a trial is a terrible human rights violation but both Israel and the US conduct this inhuman practice in the 21st century.
Detention without trial, solitary confinement, inhuman torture techniques like water boarding still continue in the modern world. Guantanamo, Bagram detention center and other such places have become a major test for the modern world. Former head of the CIA Jose Rodriguez openly defends interrogation techniques like water boarding.
Now according to the media more than 2,000 Palestinian prisoners are on mass hunger strike in Israeli jails over the inhuman conditions.
Thousands of Palestinian prisoners, including women and children, are in Israeli custody without any legal proceedings. Most of them are prisoners of conscience and for the last several years have not been allowed to meet their families and do not have any medical or legal facilities.
Despite this large number of prisoners on hunger strike, the world community, the so-called champions of human rights, the UN and human rights organizations have turned blind eyes and do nothing to stop Israeli human rights violations.
