Muslim leaders who have demanded a formal investigation into the New York Police Department's surveillance of businesses, mosques and Muslim student groups are meeting Thursday with New Jersey's top law enforcement official.
The Muslims leaders will hear the outcome of Attorney General Jeffrey Chiesa's fact-finding review.
Several Muslim leaders say they hope he will explain what role, if any, New Jersey law enforcement officials played in the spying operations. They also want to know if the New York police violated any criminal or civil rights laws.
New York police officials have repeatedly defended the program as legal and justified.
A Chiesa spokesman declined to comment.
