The Selangor palace has shot down claims by a man dating Indonesian artiste Syahrini that he is the grandson of Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.
In an SMS to Sinar Harian on Thursday, palace spokesman Ramli Alhaj Shahruddin Shah denied that Mohammad Syazni Mohammad Rashid is the grandson of the Selangor Ruler.
Singer, actress and model Syahrini had reportedly told entertainment portal detikhot.com that she was dating a member of the Selangor royal household.
She said Bubu – the affectionate name she used for Mohammad Syazni – is a grandson of the Sultan.
She claimed that they have been lovers since meeting in Kuala Lumpur during a New Year countdown celebration in December 2010.
In the same portal, Mohammad Syazni refuted earlier gossips that he came from Bogor, West Java, and that he was from the Batak community, insisting he was a grandson of the Sultan of Selangor.
In his SMS to the paper, Ramli said that Mohammad Syazni was not the Ruler's grandson. He said the Ruler has two daughters Zerafina and Zatashah and a son, Amir Shah, who is the Crown Prince of Selangor.
