Kapanlagi.com/Hendra GunawanJAKARTA: The ethics board of the House of Representatives warned comedian-turned legislator Eko Hendro Purnomo, or Eko Patrio, over his frequent appearances on television.
“Members of the House cannot have double professions, [television appearances] can take up too much time, so we are merely reminding [him],” ethics board chair M Prakosa said last Thursday, as quoted by Kompas.com.
He added that the board took the initiative to remind him after seeing him in one of the private television station’s programs. Eko was also asked to control his attitude when appearing on television, especially when doing comedic acts.
“Even though I haven’t made an appearance on TV for two years, I still appreciate what the ethics board gave to me. The conclusion is, it is permissible to make an appearance on television as long as I put the legislature’s interests and honor first,” Eko said.
