JAKARTA: Court Arbitration for Sports (CAS) has acknowledged two Indonesians, Mohammad Idwan Ganie and Anangga W. Roosdiono, as its arbitrators.

Idwan is chairman of Arbitration Body for Indonesian Sports (BAKI), while Anangga is deputy chief of BAKI. The two have officially been registered in the Court as of March and May, respectively.

“After 66 years of KOI’s [Indonesian Sports Committee] establishment, Indonesia now has two representatives in CAS,” KOI’s secretary-general Timbul Thomas Lubis recently told the media. “So far there are 278 arbitrators of the International Olympic Committee’s members from around the world in CAS. We have these two people there and it is good for Indonesian sports.”

Besides registering the two arbitrators, Timbul said that KOI also planned to bid as CAS’s representative office in Asia. In an effort to reach the goal, CAS secretary-general Matthiue Reeb is scheduled to visit Jakarta in July.
