AGO nabs fugitive E. Java legislator
The Attorney General’s Office (AGO) says it arrested fugitive East Java Legislative Council deputy speaker Musyafak Rouf on Tuesday in Surabaya, East Java.
“We finally caught him at a restaurant in Surabaya after monitoring the suspect’s movement and gathering information from civilians for more than a month,” Deputy Attorney General for Intelligence Edward P. Situmorang said on Tuesday in Jakarta.
Musyafak fled in January 2011 after the Supreme Court overturned his acquittal by the Surabaya District Court for accepting some of of Rp 720 million (US$75,981) in bribes from city officials in 2009, sentencing him to 18 months’ imprisonment. (fzm/mtq)
