Indosat eyes vacationing youth to boost subs

JAKARTA: PT Indosat says it will target young people on vacation for the school holiday with programs offering social networking at discount rates.
The telecommunications company wants its mobile phone subsidiary, PT Indosat Multi Media Mobile (IM3), to beat industry the average growth rate of 5 percent for revenue and new subscribers, Sumantri Joko Yuwono, Indosat’s group head for product development and management, said.
The holiday program will offer subscribers free access to social networking sites such as Facebok, Twitter and MIG33, among other offers.
Indosat had 52.1 million mobile phone subscribers as of the first quarter of 2012, he added, up 0.8 percent from the previous quarter.
