Comment : Between hatred and critical thinking

Are Indonesian Muslims committed to a reformed Islam? This question arose during an informal discussion among Indonesian post-graduate students at Harvard’s Science Center café recently.

It was not easy to answer that question as they had recently been following the Irshad Manji saga and the increasing threat of Muslim hard-liners in Indonesia. (By M. Syafi’i Anwar, Cambridge, Massachusetts)

Your comments:

This is a very erudite piece as well as a clear explanation of what is happening, not only in Indonesia, but in other places as well in relation to events associated with Islam.

There should be more clear thinking and rational writing like this, to reach those who are too prone to emotional responses, be they Muslims or non-Muslims.

And we should learn to listen first, before reacting.
