Palestine and Haiti have joined the International Ski Federation.
FIS says it also accepted the British Virgin Islands, Eritrea and Togo as associate members at its biennial congress meeting in South Korea.
FIS grants associate status to national associations "with fewer than 500 members and fewer than three ski clubs."
Montenegro became a full FIS member with voting rights.
FIS governs Alpine and cross-country skiing, ski jumping, snowboarding and freestyle skiing.
It pledged to distribute CHF20 million (US$20.5 million) among its member countries over the next two years to promote skiing disciplines, including 2 million Swiss francs from its reserve fund. (nvn)
