Japanese car maker Ehime Toyota Motor Corporation is preparing to send 300 sakura trees to Bantaeng regency in South Sulawesi.

These flowers will be grown at about 1,000 meters above sea level to establish whether or not they can grow in Indonesia, Toyota director Hidekazu Futagami said on Wednesday.

"We'll test the ground for the next two years. If it works, the trees will be grown across districts in Bantaeng city," Futagami said as quoted by Antara news agency on the sidelines of his trip to the regency to introduce newly installed Toyota chief Hiroyuki Ueda to Toyota Makassar workers.

Toyota cooperates with former vice president Jusuf Kalla’s NV Hadji Kalla in Makassar.

The Japanese company said they would also send ambulances and fire trucks as aid to the regency. (png/mtq)
