ATARAM: Students rallied in front of the West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Development Planning Board (Bappeda) office in Mataram to demand transparency in the management of corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds.
Affiliated with the Mataram branch of the Indonesian Muslim Students Association (PMII), the students said they doubted the provincial administration’s management of Rp 140 billion (US$15.12 million) in CSR funds from PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara (PTNNT).
“The CSR funds should be used to help underprivileged residents, including coastal communities in West Sumbawa and East Lombok who are directly affected by PT NNT’s tailings, and not for dubious projects,” rally coordinator Slamet Subroto said.
