KPK: Alex Noerdin owns Rp 19.7b in assets

A Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) review indicates that Jakarta gubernatorial candidate Alex Noerdin owns Rp 19.69 billion (US$2.1 million) in assets.
It is a requirement for each candidate to publicly disclose details of their wealth to the KPK before running for the July 6 Jakarta gubernatorial elections.
But the amount of wealth that Alex had personally reported was Rp 2.48 billion lower than what the KPK had identified.
The discrepancy results from antiques and furniture that Alex has not yet reported, said the KPK.
"There's a Rp 2 billion gap, but Pak Alex has transparently filled us in on the details of that gap," KPK director for education and public services Didie A. Rachim said on Thursday as quoted by tribunnews.com.
Another Jakarta gubernatorial candidate, Joko "Jokowi" Widodo, recently revealed that he had a total of Rp 27.25 billion in wealth. Like Alex, the KPK also rated Jokowi as transparent. (png/mtq)
