Terrorist suspect Hisyam bin Ali Zein, alias Umar Patek, expressed his intention to apologize directly to the families of the victims of the terror attacks, with which he was allegedly involved, especially the first Bali bombing.
“I want to apologize directly to the victims’ families, especially those of the first Bali bombing [in 2002],” he said when reading his defense statement before the West Jakarta District Court on Thursday.
The 46-year-old man said he regretted his involvement in the terror strikes; hence, he expected that his intention to ask forgiveness from the victims’ families could materialize.
Previously, Patek had apologized to Indonesian Christians and the government.
Your comments:
I think there is no place for accepting his apology.
He is a replication of a demon on earth and should be shot and sent to hell.
Brain
Is he trying to be smart here, asking bombing victims’ families to accept his apology? Maybe it’s possible for people to forgive him. But how about God?
Would God be able to forgive him?
This is the first time I’ve heard an al-Qaeda activist asking for mercy. Maybe he is trying to be smart to get a more lenient sentence?
If he gets lenient sentence and returns to society, he will certainly do the same thing again.
Hopefully, the judge will punish the man in accordance with the laws on terrorism.

He’s just repeating what his lawyer told him to say.
