Woman dies at home, police suspect robbery

JAKARTA: Fifty-eight-year-old Syamsinar was found dead in her house in Kebon Baru, Tebet, South Jakarta, late on Sunday, with severe head wounds. The police suspect she was assaulted in a robbery.

“After checking the house with the victim’s family, we found that a motorcycle and her jewelry were missing,” said Tebet police spokesperson First Adj. Insp. Browo Suwarno. “The investigators are now interrogating witnesses,” he added.

The case was one of three suspicious deaths investigated by the police in South Jakarta in less than 24 hours since Sunday.

At 9 p.m. on Sunday, construction worker Slamet, 43, died after eating a bowl of chicken noodles in Gandaria Selatan, Cilandak district. The police took his body to Fatmawati Hospital for autopsy. The last body was found in Setiabudi dam in Setiabudi district by a public order officer and a satay vendor. The police said the deceased was identified as Mahbub, a resident of Karet Kuningan, Setiabudi.

“An examination is still ongoing at Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital. There are no visible wounds on the body,” Setiabudi police head detective Comr. Riftajudin said as quoted by kompas.com on Monday.
