The city police said that in commemoration of the National Police’s 66th birthday on July 1, they would offer driver’s licenses and vehicle registration extension services on Saturday evenings at various outlets throughout Jakarta in June.

“This is part of our continuous attempt to offer better public services to all Jakartans.

“The extension service itself will be opened on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.,” city traffic police deputy chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Wahyono told reporters.

The police are willing to spend extra hours and go the extra mile to deliver driver’s license services. On the other hand, the police seem too lazy to enforce the laws on the minimum age for motorcycle drivers.

Therefore, minors race freely in every housing complex. It’s really very dangerous for residents. Sad to say, police officers are available everywhere. Why don’t the police transfer their law-enforcement job to another institution if the police are too busy with administrative jobs, such as driver-license issuance?

If the police can improve their service, Indonesian immigration must also step up and improve its service; maybe next century for those lazy officials.
