VP opens Indonesia environment week 2012

Vice President Boediono kicked off the 16th Indonesia environment week 2012 exhibition at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) in Jakarta on Thursday.
The exhibition is open to the public from June 14 to 17 this year, with a theme of Green Economy.
“Green Economy means how we improve our [nation’s] production system in order to be more environmentally friendly,” Boediono said at the opening ceremony of the event.
He said all companies that earned fortunes on Indonesian soil should return some of the benefits in as many possible ways that could bring benefit to the people, including by conducting green economy.
As many as 192 participants are participating in the event, including 133 international institutions.
At least 133 international and local private institutions, 47 regional administrations, four ministries and four non-governmental organizations are participating.
Besides the fair’s main exhibition, there will also be other environment-related activities, such as seminars, workshops, discussions and a creative economy fair. (mtq)
