Letter: Ambitious is sexy

What comes to your mind when you hear the word “ambitious”? Most likely you will think that the person is a nerd, gig or anti-social. For me, being ambitious is sexy. If you look up the meaning of ambitious in the Oxford Dictionary, as an adjective it means that an ambitious person wants very much to be successful in life. Well, that is right, however, I have my own personal point of view.

Ambitious for me is more about the sacrifice of personal free time to achieve goals toward strategies, persistence and endurance without being antisocial. It sounds too long, however endurance and persistence are the key messages. If someone happened to fail to achieve their goals, for me it is not failure, but rather, a matter of time. In some points, it is good sometimes to delay something, meaning that you could reevaluate your strategies. Your endurance is tested once again.

Setting the goal as high as you prefer, it will create the energy within yourself. Nobody knows that you can do more than your normal boring life. Mark Zuckenberg is sexy, Steven Jobs is sexy, or even Sutjipto Sosrodjojo and his Teh Botol is sexy. Do not feel you are a kinky person if someone calls you too ambitious. Maybe one day he or she will envy your achievements. How about you? Are you sexy enough?
