Residents sue Fauzi over traffic quagmire

JAKARTA: Residents Agustinus Dawarja and Ngurah Anditya filed a lawsuit against Governor Fauzi Bowo at the Central Jakarta District Court on Tuesday, saying that the governor had neglected Jakarta’s traffic problems during his five-year tenure as the capital’s top official.

The class action lawsuit also challenges President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, whom the two citizens described as “responsible for Jakarta’s chronic traffic problems”.

“The negative effects suffered by the citizens include physical exhaustion, stress, discomfort, polluted environment, and a cut in working hours,” he said as quoted by tribunnews.com.
