JAKARTA: The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) summoned on Wednesday Antonius Z. Tonbeng, an independent commissioner of investment company PT Bhakti Investama, for questioning in a bribery scandal implicating a tax official.
“[Antonius] is being questioned as a suspect in a bribery case implicating PT Bhakti Investama,” acting KPK spokesman Priharsa Nugraha said on Wednesday.
Antonius declined to comment on the case, “I’m just here to fulfill the KPK’s summons,” he said as he arrived at the KPK’s office in Jakarta.
The immigration office has imposed one-year ban on overseas travel for Antonius in relation to the case.
The commissioner allegedly instructed a businessman who is believed to be connected with Bhakti Investama, James Gunarjo, to bribe Tommy Hindarto, an official with the tax office in Sidoarjo, East Java. The KPK has named James and Tommy suspects.
