The National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) has confiscated Rp 8 billion (US$845,397) in assets belonging to an alleged terrorist group in Medan, North Sumatra.
The assets were seized during raids conducted within the past 24 hours, said the operations director of the BNPT, Brig. Gen. Petrus Reinhard Golose, on Thursday.
"We have taken into our possession four houses, one shop, a number of cars and motorcycles, and money -- all of which adds up to a total of Rp 8 billion," Golose said, as quoted by kompas.com.
Golose added that this operation was based on information provided by several suspected terrorists whom authorities had captured earlier. Two of these suspects are allegedly IT experts, who used their skills to raise money via the Internet. (png)
