SOUTH TANGERANG: The heirs to the land on which State Elementary School (SDN) Cibaliung, in Jombang subdistrict, Ciputat district, South Tangerang was built, followed through on their threats to empty the school on Thursday.
The property owners threw all of the school’s chairs and desks out of the classrooms in a display of their disappointment with the South Tangerang municipal administration.
“We are very disappointed with the South Tangerang municipal administration. It seems that they have ignored us, the common people,” Erni Sumarni, one of the heirs said at the school compound.
She said the school was built 26 years ago, but as of today the administration had yet to pay the promised compensation for the 1,000 square meters of land occupied by the school.
“Therefore, I assert that we, the heirs, will turn down the administration’s offer of a land exchange deal, and we hope Mayor Airin Rachmi Diany can personally be present to settle the matter with us,” she added.
Erna explained that the Tangerang administration bought the land from her family in 1986. Erna’s family still holds the legal documents of the deal but had not yet received the payment.
Separately, the head of South Tangerang Education Agency, Mathodah, said that the administration had conducted meetings with related agencies to discuss the problem and they would meet with the heirs next week to discuss the solution.
“Let’s wait until Monday [June 26]. There must be an explanation and we hope that this will result in a good solution,” he said.
