JAKARTA: The Jakarta Fair, which has been dubbed the biggest annual exhibition in the country, has attracted thousands of visitors in just 10 days.

“According to our preliminary records, there have been about 800,000 visitors since day one. We aim to attract 4.5 million visitors this year,” JIExpo marketing director Ralph Scheunemann said as quoted by tribunnews.com on Saturday.

The fair, held in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, opened on June 14 and runs through July 15.

According to Ralph, total transactions could only be estimated two weeks after the opening.

Ralph said more people would attend the fair in its second week up to the fourth week as those weeks coincided with the school holidays. “We suggest people come on weekdays, because the number of visitors coming to the fair on weekdays is usually 30 percent lower than on weekends. But they are definitely welcome if they want to come on a weekend,” he said.

Last year, the Jakarta Fair attracted 4.1 million visitors and recorded Rp 3.7 trillion (US$392.2 million) in total transactions.
