The first full day of campaign activities for the Jakarta’s gubernatorial candidates kicked off on Monday with Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and his running mate Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) visiting separate districts.

Jokowi visited residents of Gang II Kebon Kacang, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, to deliver his message about programs he intends to implement if elected governor, while Ahok paid a visit to residents in Kramat Pulo, also in Central Jakarta.

“They campaign in separate areas. Both of them will only meet at 4 p.m.,” Dwi, a member of the Jokowi-Ahok campaign team, said as quoted by tempo.co on Monday.

In Kramat Pulo, Ahok made a round of visits to residents’ houses, and paid special attention to the Gaplok Market near the railroad.

“The location of the market is dangerous. We have to relocate it,” he said, adding that if elected, his administration planned to buy land near the area and develop a multilevel building for the market.

At 10 a.m. Ahok continued his campaign in Mangga Besar, while Jokowi visited Gandaria Market.
