Incumbent Jakarta Governor Fauzi Bowo and his running mate Maj. Gen. (ret.) Nachrowi Ramli spent Monday focusing on the former’s official duties as current governor rather than hitting the campaign trail.
Kahfi Siregar, chief of media relations for the pair, said Monday that the governor had to attend a plenary session with the Jakarta City Council to discuss regional budget revisions.
“Pak Fauzi must be present at the session,” he said as quoted by tempo.co.
Earlier, it was reported that Fauzi’s running mate, Nachrowi, had visited Tidung Island in North Jakarta’s Thousand Islands on Monday.
However, Kahfi said that Nahrowi’s was merely visiting a post in the island and it was not “a campaign stop”.
Even though the official campaign period for the Jakarta gubernatorial race started on Sunday and will run until July 7, the pair has decided campaign on June 30, July 3 and July 6 in line with Fauzi’s office leave. (asa)
