JAKARTA: Kalideres bus terminal in West Jakarta has seen an increase in passenger numbers during the school holiday.
Most departed from the terminal bound for cities in West Java, Central Java and Sumatra.
Beritajakarta.com reported that passengers had been lining up to buy bus tickets since Thursday morning.
“There’s about a 10 percent increase in the number of passengers compared to the same period last year,” Suryo, a driver’s assistant on a PO Santoso bus that plies the Jakarta–Yogyakarta route, said.
He said that the company had prepared four additional buses to anticipate the increase.
Another driver’s assistant, Dasep from Pahala Kencana, on the Jakarta–Semarang route, said that Pahala Kencana had operated five buses each day, up from the usual three, since last week.
“This week we have seen an increase of around 15 percent. The number is likely to be higher when the fasting month comes,” he said.
