Pertamina EP, the upstream business unit of state-owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina, has experienced increasing losses of oil and assets at Tempino-Plaju pipeline in Jambi due to pillaging and asset thievery.
The company lost 39,000 barrels of crude oil in May and increased to 59,000 barrels in June.
“Pertamina EP is very concerned because law enforcers have yet to respond to our report regarding pillaging and thievery,” Pertamina EP spokesperson Agus Amperianto said in a release provided to The Jakarta Post on Monday.
He said that those crimes, which mostly took place in South Sumatra and Jambi, had cost the state billions of Rupiah in loses. (iwa)
