BANDUNG: The Surabaya Institute of Technology (ITS) emerged as the overall winner at the 2012 National Robot Contest, which ended in Bandung, West Java, on Sunday.
The team was assured the overall championship after Team RI-NHO beat Barelang 5.2, of the State Polytechnic of Batam.
The two teams were in close competition to the end as they amassed points.
“We are happy because it’s our first victory after joining the event 14 times. One-year of hard work bore fruit,” said 21-year-old Pnky Rexa Buana, an ITS team member.
The team was also declared the best performer in the robotic art category, in which the contestant had to perform the piring dance of West Sumatra.
The two-day event featured 94 teams from 50 state universities in Indonesia, competing in four categories.
