The Golkar Party is not planning on naming any vice presidential candidate this year.
This was the announcement made by Golkar’s deputy chairman, Agung Laksono, who added that a candidate “may be [announced] by the end of 2013,” tempo.co reported.
Last week, Golkar named party chairman Aburizal Bakrie as its presidential candidate for the upcoming 2014 election.
The Democratic Party secretary-general, Edy Baskoro Yudhoyono, is one name, however, that has been cited as a possible running mate for Aburizal.
Agung said that the candidate chosen to pair with Aburizal might be a party member if Aburizal’s electability rate remained above 30 percent.
“It will depend on the surveys. If Aburizal gets below 30 percent, then we will form a coalition,” Agung said.
