Singer and composer Melly Goeslaw has published a new book entitled Balance, which sets out her opinions on the current state of the music industry in Indonesia.

“The industry is not always as much fun as it looks. In fact, it often feels rather tragic,” quotes Tribunnews.com from the book.

Among the topics explored in the book are the trend of selling music as ringback tones (RBTs), singing competitions and sporadic euphoria toward certain types of music.

Balance, is Melly’s second book following a compilation of short stories entitled Arrrrrrgh, published in 2004.

The 38-year-old singer has released 11 solo albums and six albums with her band Potret and written theme songs for several movies, including Ada Apa dengan Cinta (What’s up with Cinta) and Heart.
