Your comments on the collection of money from the public by
antigraft activists to finance the construction of a new Corruption
Eradication Commission (KPK) building, after lawmakers rejected the
commission’s request for state funds:
The government and lawmakers frequently ask the involvement of the people for the sake of the country. So what’s wrong when the people collect money from the public to finance the construction of a KPK building?

In 1945, we fought for our independence from the Dutch; now we are fighting against our own stupidity; we are corrupting ourselves, our poor people; why do we do it?
The Javanese have the saying kere munggah bale, which is to mean “allowing unqualified people to handle higher responsibilities”. The simple sight of money makes people tumble like weed.
The observant public can’t help but make effort to cooperate with the KPK in every way possible for the success of their function, which is to punish corrupters accordingly.
It’s normal if the KPK needs more space, as its present facilities can hardly accommodate the growing numbers of reported incidents of corruption.
Embarrassing as it may be, we will never stop exposing shameless, corrupt individuals in government.
Why is it that our House of supposed representatives of the people doesn’t support the people’s desire to support the KPK’s plan to expand its office building?
This story should be included in the “believe it or not” column. What a shame!

Many members of the House of Representatives, including members of Commission III overseeing legal affairs and laws, human rights and security, must be shivering with apprehension right now, as a larger office for the KPK could mean that the KPK may perform even better in rooting out and bringing to justice those who are corrupt.
KPK, please open a bank account for those who want to contribute funds for your new building!

The KPK should appreciate the reluctance of lawmakers to build a larger office.
That is lawmakers’ commitment to maintain their desire not to be corrupt.
