Worker drowns at Pantai Indah Kapuk

Karman, a 28-year-old construction worker died from drowning in the West Flood Canal in Pantai Indah Kapuk, North Jakarta, on Thursday.
The resident of Yogyakarta fell into the river as he was working on the construction of a steel bridge to carry a cable for state electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN), according to his co-worker Dolongsaribu.
He added that the victim was not wearing a harness as he worked.
“The victim couldn’t swim. When he plunged into the water, he immediately disappeared,” Dolongsaribu said.
As of Thursday afternoon, the North Jakarta fire department had not been able to find the victim’s body. “We haven’t been able to find the victim. He was probably swept away. We will keep searching until we find him,” said the fire department’s on-duty officer, Jajang, as quoted by beritajakarta.com.
