South Jakarta Police announced on Saturday that they had arrested a drug dealer identified as JL, aka Botak, 49, in Setiabudi, South Jakarta, on Tuesday night at around 8 p.m.

“JL has been on our most wanted list for some time. He was finally arrested after three months of investigating,” South Jakarta Police’s narcotics unit chief, Adj. Sr. Comr. Farlin Lumban Toruan, said as quoted by tempo.co

According to Farlin, JL was on his way to deliver an order of heroin and crystal methamphetamine to a house on Jl. Salak in Setiabudi’s Guntur subdistrict when he was arrested. He reportedly did not resist arrest.

The police confiscated 70.1 grams of heroin, 105 grams of crystal meth, 38.1 grams of marijuana and two scales as evidence.

The police investigation found that JL often distributed narcotics in the Cilandak, Pamulang, and Ciputat districts.

“He would pose as a motorcycle taxi (ojek) driver or a cell phone vendor and would deposit the drugs at mini-markets,” Farlin said.

JL has been charged with dealing illegal drugs under the 2009 Narcotics Law, for which he could face life imprisonment and a fine of between Rp 1 billion (US$106,000) and Rp 10 billion.

The police are currently searching for JL’s superior in his narcotics network, a man identified as James and who is foreign. “We know that this James guy is dark-skinned, but we have not acquired any information as to which country he is from,” Farlin said. (mim)
