The Attorney General’s Office (AGO) arrested a tax consultant Hendro Tirtajaya on Monday evening for his involvement in a bribery case implicating junior taxman Dhana Widyatmika.
“He [hendro] will be detained for the next 20 days at the AGO’s detention facility at Salemba Prison in Central Jakarta,” AGO spokesman Adi Toegarisman said on Monday evening.
Hendro, an employee of PT Ditax Management Resolusindo, was named a suspect for graft and money laundering.
According to prosecutors, Hendro and Zemmy Tanumihardja, another witness, had allegedly posed as tax consultants for PT Mutiara Virgo.
Hendro conspired with Herly Isdiharsono (HI), the chief commissioner of PT Mitra Modern Mobilindo, to bribe Dhana to decrease PT. Mutiara Virgo’s tax assessment.
After finding strong evidence, Adi added, Hendro was apprehended. Herly’s role is still under investogation.
“We hope that we can immediately finish the investigation and indict him,” Adi said, as quoted by kompas.com. (riz/iwa)
