JAMBI: Two of five people, believed to be members of a gang stealing crude oil possessed by PT Pertamina Jambi, were captured by Pertamina security officers in Gelam River area KM 11, in Muaro regency, on Sunday.
After being arrested, the two perpetrators — Rizal aka Feri, 35, and Jon Heri, 38 — were later taken to Jambi City Police.
Rizal and Jon were the alleged drivers of a truck used for carrying the stolen crude oil, said Johanes Heri, chief of Jambi Police General Crimes Division, on Monday.
The remaining three members managed to flee during the raid, he added.
“We have secured all evidence and we are still questioning the two individuals over their involvement in the oil theft,” Johanes said.
The evidence includes 1 ton of crude oil, a huge container, 50-meters of plastic tubing and a Colt truck bearing the plate number BH 1026 WJ.
The alleged thieves will be prosecuted under the 2011 Oil Act.
