Seven miners reportedly killed in a clash in Buru Island

Seven independent miners have reportedly been killed during a clash in a gold mining area in Botak Mountain, Waeapo, Buru Island in Maluku on Wednesday afternoon.

Buru Island’s Regent Ramli Umasugi has confirmed the incident saying the victims had been identified, Metro TV reported.

This is the second incident to take place in the gold mining area in recent months. Two miners reportedly died and five others were injured during a clash in May. (iwa)
