Businesswoman Hartati Murdaya has maintained her innocence in a graft case involving Buol Regent Amran Batalipu.

“In the name of God, I am a religious person. I am not lying about this,” Hartati told reporters after casting her vote for the Jakarta gubernatorial election in Menteng, Central Jakarta.

Hartati also said that Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigators would likely have problems finding evidence in the case. “There’s no bribery involved. That’s the way things are working there,” she said.

Hartati, who is also a member of the Democratic Party board of patrons, is expected to testify in the graft case.

Amran was alleged to have accepted a bribe from a plantation company belonging to Hartati, and has been named a suspect in the case.

He allegedly took the bribe in exchange for issuing a permit for PT Hardaya Inti Plantations (HIP), an oil palm plantation company owned by Hartati.
