Yudhoyono inaugurates military cadets

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono flew to Magelang, Central Java on Wednesday, where he presided over the graduation of the Indonesian Military (TNI) and the National Police cadets at the Military Academy (Akmil).

On Wednesday evening Yudhoyono delivered a speech before 836 cadets who would be inaugurated on Thursday.

The Yogyakarta Police dispatched 1,000 personnel to secure the event.

Joining Yudhoyono’s entourage were some high-ranking officials including National Police Chief Gen. Timur Pradopo, TNI Commander Adm. Agus Suhartono, Coordinating Political, Legal and Security Minister Djoko Suyanto, Home Minister Gamawan Fauzi and Defense Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro.

Yudhoyono did not cast his vote in the Jakarta gubernatorial election on Wednesday as he and members of his family were not registered voters. Yudhoyono is resident of Cikeas in Bogor, West Java.
