The family of a woman forced to undergo an abortion because she ran foul of China’s one-child policy has accepted a cash settlement, apparently ending a controversy that caused a public uproar and embarrassed the government.

Feng Jianmei’s husband, Deng Jiyuan, told The Associated Press on Wednesday that the family accepted the settlement of 70,600 yuan (US$11,200) because they wanted to return to a normal life.

What a brave couple! I salute the man for all he suffered to expose the truth. In the same way I applaud the lady for the guts she’s shown when her husband had to leave her alone to seek justice. He is correct in saying that no money can pay for the injustice they suffered, yet his courage and perseverance will continue to encourage others to fight for justice!

What a story!
