Ceylon, APC through JCA league semis

Sterling performances by Ceylon Warriors and APC United on Sunday ensured berths in the semifinals of the Apple Coal JCA T20 League 2012 while victories for the Challengers Super Kings and the Jakarta Durians gave them places in the Wooden Spoon semifinals.
“In the Cup semifinals, APC will take on Emerio while Ceylon will clash with Senayan. In the Wooden Spoon semis, Menara will face Durians and Challengers will take on Gandhi Perkasa,” JCA spokesperson Deepak Khullar said in a release on Monday.
At Gandhi grounds, Ceylon bowlers did well to restrict PCI Garudas to 106/9 in 20 overs. Timothy, Faheem Bhai and Usman Afridi took 3 wickets each. Needing a healthy net run rate to improve their semifinal chances, Ceylon, led by Dihan Silva’s unbeaten 63 runs, reached the victory target in 12 overs, losing just 1 wicket.
At Cibubur, APC outclassed the Menara Devils by 94 runs. Sent in to bat first, APC put up a healthy 190/7 on board. JP Le Riche top scored with 56 runs with Sohail chipping in with quick-fire 39 runs. Neetesh Pansare took 2 wickets. In reply, Menara could only make 96/7, with Atul Kakkar scoring 28 runs. JP and Rajeev took 2 wickets apiece.
In an earlier game, unbeaten for 55 runs from Subhash Papaji sealed the victory for the Challengers by 7 wickets against the WPP Wizards. Batting first, The Wizards made 129/9 in 20 overs, with Suresh Subramanian making 35 runs. Srinivasan and Jaganathan took 3 wickets each.
Later in the afternoon at Gandhi grounds, Jakarta Durians beat Gandhi Satria by 7 wickets. Batting first Gandhi Satria made 165/9 with Harish Tomar leading scoring with 61 runs. Tim Gutsell and Amitava took 4 wickets apiece. Scott Mason’s unbeaten 64 runs ensured the Durains victory in the last over.
